The College-Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST) is part of Florida's system of education accountability. The CLAST is an achievement test that measures students' attainment of the college-level
communication and mathematics skills that were identified by the faculties of community colleges and state universities.Since August 1,1984 students have been required to pass the four sub-tests of the CLAST for the award of an Associate in Arts Degree; for admission to upper - division status and the award of a Bachelor's degree in a state university in Florida.
All four sections (essay, English Language Skills or ELS, reading, and mathematics) of the CLAST exam must be satisfied prior to submitting an application for graduation. The receipt of official CLAST scores may take approximately six weeks for the paper/pencil test and three
weeks for the computer version of the test. You must schedule the CLAST and receive scores in advance of the graduation application deadlines.
